You did nothing wrong! I was unable to attach to it myself via the
nwzhome terminal server. The problem was with the security
configuration of the samba server allowing only certain Ip subnets to
access the server. Unfortunately the two Windows PCs and the Mac in
my office are in the correct subnet to access nwzlinux so I did not
recognize there was a problem. I fixed it by extending the hosts
allow in the smb.conf to 128.176.0.0/255.255.0.0. Does it work O.K.
for you now?

To all:

If there are additional private IP subnets in use (10.something or
172.something or whatever) anywhere in IVV-4 please notify
IVVNWZ at ..., so we can include these subnets in any further tcpwrapper
etc. and/or firewall configurations. Do so especially, when you set
up new private IP subnets together with NOC. I can "easily" find out
all the IP adresses in use at a certain time via NIC_Online in at
least the biology, chemistry and physics department, but I would
rather not do this lot of work and certainly not update that
information on a daily basis.

Kind regards and sorry for any inconvenience caused

Heinz-Hermann
